Alumni Spotlight | Utkarsh Bhatnagar
Utkarsh Bhatnagar is a 2011 graduate of the MSIT eBusiness Technology program. We had the pleasure of reconnecting with him in March at the 2017 West Coast Alumni Reunion in San Francisco, where he is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer for Tinder. Previously, he worked at Sony Playstation as a Senior Software Engineer for three years. During his time there, Utkarsh designed and implemented a scalable monitoring solution to process billions of events per day in near-real time. His knowledge and passion is in building scalable and automated solutions and is an active open source contributor to Grafana. Utkarsh gave a presentation on scalable solutions at Spark Summit 2017 in San Francisco, a conference on big data for the Apache Spark community. His presentation, ‘Scalable Monitoring Using Apache Spark and Friends’, focused on broadening the usage of Apache Spark. This fresh outlook provides learning opportunities to the DevOps/Infrastructure domain for building a scalable real-time monitoring system using Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Grafana as well as other open-source technologies. You can view his presentation from the June 6, 2017 Spark Summit event at: https://youtu.be/5FWKtMcfIBA. His slides are also available online here.
